Does Penis Enlargement Work? Learn the Truth

From those who have smaller than average penises, to those who are considerably well-endowed, penis enlargement often isn’t about a universal sought after number, but rather about being happy with your size – whatever that may be.

Q1. I’m having trouble maintaining a standing erection for more than 15 to 30 seconds without any stimulation!…

Big Al: With the exception of going through periods of high libido without relief or morning woods, one shouldn’t necessarily expect to maintain an erection in the absence of stimulation. This is especially the case if you’re able to get aroused without tactile stimulation in scenarios where you’re sexually aroused. Also, don’t make the mistake of frequently “testing” your erections to check your erection quality (EQ). This becomes an obsession for some, and the increased negative emotional backdrop combined with repeated testings can create a negative condition effect with can impact EQ.

 

Q. I’ve seen you write about getting a quality tissue stretch from your exercises…

…but what does this mean, exactly?

Big Al: The most “pure” example of tissue stretch can be felt when performing an erect kegel. The hyperexpansion one feels when performing the exercise is similar to what one should expect when performing a quality girth movement. With length work you should feel the basal ligaments being stretched during the initial part of the exercise. As the ligaments attenuate, you should then feel the shaft itself (tunica and fascia) begin to elongate.

Q. I’ve been dieting to get ripped and my EQ feels like it’s decreasing…

…I’m also finding myself more tired. Could diet and activity be causing my EQ to drop? Should I perform my male enhancement workouts before or after cardio?

Big Al: A change in diet and physical activity can impact EQ negatively if overall energy levels feel decreased. You may want to look into your caloric intake, activity levels, and sleep patterns to see where the deficiency is.

What is Penile Dysmorphic Disorder? How Do I Know if I Have it?

penis size penis dysmorphic disorderOne of the more common issues we come across at PEGym is Penile Dysmorphic Disorder. This disorder can ruin a man’s personal relationships, and can even spill into other areas of his life, as his self-confidence plummets and his obsession grows.

But, what is penile dysmorphic disorder?

And, more importantly, how do you know if you have it?

What is Penile Dysmorphic Disorder?

Penile Dysmorphic Disorder is a penis-specific form of  Body Dysmorphic Disorder.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder, in general, is a mental illness involving obsessive focus on a perceived flaw in appearance.  The flaw may be minor or imagined. But the person may spend hours a day trying to fix it. The person may try many cosmetic procedures or exercise to excess. People with this disorder may frequently examine their appearance in a mirror, constantly compare their appearance with that of others, and avoid social situations or photos.

For Penile Dysmorphic Disorder, this focus in on the penis. This is often centered on penis size, and a feeling that their penis is too small, but can include other aesthetic concerns, such as penis curve, erection angle, veins (or lack thereof) on the penis, or even the color of the penile skin.

In research conducted at King’s College London, the men reported they first started to think their penis was too small around the age of 15 or 16. These men said their penis size became a significant problem for them a few years later, when they were 18 or 19. When it becomes an obsession, penile dysmorphic disorder, this obsession can also lead to sexual dysfunction.

How To Tell if You Have Penile Dysmorphic Disorder

If you want a larger penis, you’re not alone. An online survey of over 25,000 men found that nearly half of the participants were unhappy with their current size, with 45% wanting to be larger and 0.2% wanting to be smaller.  The question becomes, when does a desire to improve yourself actually become a mental obsessive disorder?

Think about these questions:

  • Do you measure your penis daily or more often?
  • Does your concern about your penis size prevent you from having intimate relationships?
  • Have you asked your partner how you rank in size, against other penises they’ve had?
  • Do you continue to look up surveys and statistics about average penis size and/or penis size women want, despite previously investigating this information?
  • Are you 5 inches in length, erect, but still feel like your penis is too small to be desirable/satisfying?
  • Have you avoided non-romantic situations where others may see your penis, because you’re worried about your size – such as showering in a gym locker room.
  • Does the thought of a partner seeing you naked make you feel anxious?
  • Have you ever had an issue with obsessive compulsive disorder?
  • Do you feel like or know that others have mocked you because of your penis size?
  • Do you look at photos of other penises and compare yourself to them?
  • Do you try to hide the fact that you have a small penis by carefully choosing your clothing?
  • Have you considered extreme measures to increase the size of your penis, such as: surgery or implants?
  • Has the concern over your penis size caused you distress on a nearly daily basis?

If you’ve answered YES to 2 or more of these questions, you may have an issue with Penile Dysmorphic Disorder.

What to Do if You Think You May Have Penile Dysmorphic Disorder

If you’ve answered yes to 2 or more of the above questions, please talk to a mental health professional. There is definitely a difference between men who are pursuing penis enlargement as a means of self-improvement, to those with this sometimes debilitating condition. Only a mental health professional can diagnose whether or not you have PDD.

Embarrassment and shame are the two reasons why so many men don’t get help with Penile Dysmorphic Disorder. Without treatment, Penile Dysmorphic doesn’t get better. In fact, it likely will get worse – leading to sexual dysfunction (as mentioned earlier) and even severe depression and anxiety – even suicide.

Treatment often includes a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy and medications.  Cognitive behavioral therapy will help you learn how to deal with the negative thoughts and find alternate ways to handle them. Medications often focus on treating the associated depression.

“Shocking” New Treatment for Erectile Dysfunction

I’m always interested in new treatment options for erectile dysfunction. ED is a serious problem that affects an astounding 52% of men. I’m also not a fan of medication, as the primary go-to treatment. Too many times we’re so eager to just ‘pop a pill’ for a quick, temporary symptom elimination – without addressing the real underlying problem.

So, my virtual ears perked up when I heard about a new procedure – GainsWave.

The procedure sounds odd. I’m not kidding.

Tens of thousands of sound waves are shot (is that the right word?) through your penis, in the attempt to improve blood flow. And, as any PEGym member will know, when it comes to erection strength – bloodflow is CRITICAL.  Now, as weird as this procedure sounds, it’s getting some buzz from sexual health professionals.

 

“People in the community who deal with erectile dysfunction often use the word ‘promising’ when they talk about this therapy,” says Dr. Michael Reitano, the physician-in-residence for men’s health startup Roman, the creators of the ground-breaking ED telemedicine company.

Although the device looks frightening (described as a cross between a nail gun and a heavy-duty vibrator), most men find it relatively painless, with just a pins-and-needles sensation.

Administered by a doctor, approximately once a week, for between six and 12 weeks, this procedure isn’t cheap. Averaging about $3,000, health insurance doesn’t cover any of it.

Q. Hi Al, I been hanging and I notice in my training…

Weeks 1&2: 5 days a week

Weeks 3&4: 4.5 days per week

Weeks 5&6: 4 days per week

The gradual decrease in frequency should allow you to get more recovery time.

  1. How often do women lie about having an orgasm? And, have you ever lied about having an orgasm?
    .
    Statistics vary greatly on how often women lie about having an orgasm, but some studies report more than 80% of women have faked their orgasm. There are several reasons why we may do this. No fault of your own, we may simply be tired or stressed out and realize an orgasm just isn’t in the cards at that time, and understanding men are very goal-oriented, we just want to alleviate your stress. Sometimes we fake it because, well… the sex just isn’t very good, and we want it to be over with.

  2. What’s the most important quality in a man?
    .
    When we’re talking about long-term partners, the top qualities in a man women are looking for include: caring, sense of humor, intelligence, confidence, devoted, empathetic, and great communicator. Notice, looks and money aren’t on that list. Why? Because although looks and money may attract a woman at first (especially superficial ones), no woman ever truly fell in love with a man because he had money or was good looking. On the contrary, women fall in love with men who are not traditionally physically attractive and are broke, every single day, because they have the qualities I list above.

  3. What’s the perfect size penis? How big of a penis is too big and how small of a penis is too small?
    .
    This is probably the question I get most often – both privately and on the forums. There is no perfect penis size. It’s more about what you DO with your penis, than its size. Rock-hard erection quality, solid stamina and good technique can take a below average-sized penis and make it a rockstar! Poor EQ, no stamina and poor technique can make even the biggest dick a dud in the sack. As far as how big is too big? I, personally, don’t like my cervix hit – so, if you’re so big that’s happening, and you’re not skilled enough to know how to prevent that from happening – that’s too big, in my books. However, there are some women who enjoy that cringing pain. A micropenis (under 3″ erect) would probably be in my personal category of “too small.” Now, there are lesbians around the world that will tell you that you don’t need a penis at all to have a satisfying sex life, so even a man with a micropenis can make up for it in other ways.   4. What are some of your major turn-offs?
    .
    My biggest turn-off includes poor, personal hygiene. Greasy hair, dirty fingernails, bad breath, body odor, and/or dirty clothes… yeah, I’m not going to be turned on. Negative attitude ranks right up there too. If you’re constantly bitching about something (work, other people, the government, life in general), I’m also going to be turned off.

  5. What are some of your major turn-ons?
    .
    Other than good personal hygiene and a positive attitude, a guy who is playful is a huge turn-on to me. A good sense of humor is so, so sexy. Plus, I love a guy who actually acts like they’re interested in me. Make me feel like I’m the most amazing woman in the universe, and that’s going to really get me going. Touch me – not necessarily in sexual places. Like run your fingers along the back of my neck. Play with the palm of my hand and wrist. And kissing… lots of kissing!

  6. Others than bars/clubs, where’s the best place a guy can meet someone?
    .
    Bars and nightclubs are tough. Lots of people, but it’s noisy and usually women are with friends. It can be hard to approach someone in this venue. So, looking for other places to meet someone is smart. The best place to meet someone is doing activities you actually enjoy. So, if you like to workout – the gym. If you like to play volleyball – join a rec league. If you like to cook – take a cooking class. If you like to read – join a book club. This will already give you something in common with the women you approach.

  7. Why do women continue to use subtle hints with men, when they clearly don’t work?
    .
    The easy answer – because we’re eternal optimists! LOL Seriously, though, it’s because we want you to come to whatever conclusion we’re hinting at on your own, because then it’ll mean so much more. Example: We really like a band. In fact, you should’ve noticed that one of their songs is our ringtone. Now, this band is coming to town. We’d really like you to here this news and think, “Kimberly really likes ABC Band – I should get tickets!” That would be sweet and thoughtful! Or, reassurance that you’re not going to leave us – Do you think she’s prettier than me? We sometimes just feel insecure and need you to build up our ego. However, if we really look awful in an outfit, don’t let us leave the house! 😀 Instead of saying we look fat in something (or ugly, etc.), approach it from a positive suggestion.  Example response to “Do I look fat in this outfit?” – You know, I really liked that dress you wore to dinner a couple weeks ago. The one with the flowers. You looked really good in that! You should wear that.

  10. Why is it such an issue that guys leave the toilet seat up?
    .
    There are a couple of reasons why this bothers us so much. First, it’s unsanitary. We don’t want to have to touch the toilet seat to put it down. I know, it means you guys have to touch it – but, that’s your choice, because you could sit to pee. 😀 Second, and most importantly, it’s a courtesy thing. You know it bugs us. Show us you care about our feelings with this one little thing. Leaving the toilet seat up screams to us, “I really don’t care what you want.”

    Well, this is when we hold our Super Secret Women’s Society meetings, where we make plans to rule the world!  Seriously, though sometimes we do this, so we can continue talking or maybe even talk about our guys.     We want to look our best, but we don’t want guys leering at us. There’s a difference between a guy seeing us and thinking we’re pretty, and one who is openly gawking at us.     For the most part – no. Women don’t look at a guy’s package as often as men check out women’s boobs. We’re looking at your smile – your hair – your arms – your butt.  Most of the time, men’s pants aren’t conducive for package checking out. But, even if they were it’s not something most women would actively look at. Now, I’ll admit, if you’re on the beach, in a Speedo, I might look briefly, but that’s out of curiosity, rather than actual sexual intention. And, if you have a great set of abs, I’m probably going to be focused on those instead.

Medical Study: Effect of Penile‐Extender Device in Increasing Penile Size in Men with Shortened Penis

However, one of the things we also know is male enhancement is an industry where a lot of promises are made – some from some less than scrupulous companies. So, I like to share actual medical studies (ones performed by real researchers and published in scholarly journals, not “studies” performed by companies just looking to promote their product) from time to time.

The following study was published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine. Understanding that few studies existed on the effectiveness of penis extenders on increasing penis size, this study was conducted by Doctors: Mohammadreza Nikoobakht MD, Alireza Shahnazari MD, Maedeh Rezaeidanesh MD, Abdolrasoul Mehrsai MD, and Gholamreza Pourmand MD.

Penis Extender Effectiveness Study Method

This prospective study was performed on subjects complaining about “short penis” who were presented to the authoring doctors’ clinic. After measuring the penile length in flaccid and stretched forms and penile circumference, patients were instructed to wear the penis extender for 4–6 hours per day during the first 2 weeks and then 9 hours per day until the end of the third month.

The subjects were also trained how to increase the force of the device during determined intervals. The patients were visited at the end of the first and third months, and penile length and circumference were measured and compared with the baseline measurements.

The primary end point of the study was changes in flaccid and stretched penis lengths compared with the baseline size during the 3 months follow‐up.

Penis Extender Effectiveness Study Results

Twenty-three men, with a mean age of 26.5 years old participated in the study. Here were the results:

  • First month follow-up
    • Average flaccid penis length increased from 8.8 cm to 10.1 cm
    •  Average stretched penis length increased from 11.5 cm to 12.4 cm
  • Third month follow-up
    • Average flaccid penis length increased to 10.5 cm
    • Average stretched penis length increased to 13.2 cm
  • The circumference of the penis glans increased, on average 1.5 cm at month three.

 

Penis Extender Effectiveness Study Conclusion

Given the small sample size, the researchers suggest further research. However, initial findings supported the efficacy of penis extenders in increasing penis length. Their results also suggested the possibility of glans girth enhancement using a penile extender.

We first talked about the vagina in this article — A Little Bit About Female Anatomy: AKA How Big is the Vagina? This article continues that discussion, to help demystify this mysterious female body part.

Note (again): Every woman is unique, this holds true for her vagina. For this reason, we are talking about typical. Just as every man’s penis is unique. And, just as a the unique size and shape of a man’s penis shouldn’t affect their value as a partner or as a human being, the same holds true for those of us across the gender aisle.

What is the Vagina?

vagina rules the worldThe vagina is the internal sex organ of the female. It begins at the vaginal opening and extends into the body, typically between three to five inches, and ends at the cervix.

The vagina is made up of three tissue layers:

  • Mucosa – This is the layer on the surface that you can actually touch. It is comprised of mucous membranes that provide lubrication and is similar to the mouth’s lining. Although, unlike the smooth surface you find in the mouth, the vagina’s mucosa has wrinkles and folds.

  • Muscle – The muscle layer is the next layer. It’s concentrated mostly around the outer third of the vagina.
    .
  • Fibrous Tissue – The innermost layer of the vagina is made of fibrous tissue. This connects the vagina to other anatomical structures.

What is the Shape of the Vagina?

Contrary to popular belief, the vagina is NOT a continually open space, or even a hole. The muscles of the vagina allow this tube to expand – like a balloon – allowing it to accommodate a wide range of size – from the narrowness of a tampon to the significantly larger circumference of a newborn’s head.

The outer shape of a woman’s pubic area can vary widely too. There is no one “perfect” vagina shape. The outer (labia majora) and inner (labia minora) position and shape are as diverse as the size and shape of women’s breasts or men’s penises.

How Sensitive is the Vagina?

Interestingly, the vagina itself isn’t super-sensitive. This is the reason many women only orgasm from clitoral stimulation – where there are approximately 8,000 nerve endings in the very small nub of tissue! 90 percent of the vaginal nerves are actually located in the first one-third of the vagina. That’s why this first approximate inch to inch and a half is much more sensitive than deeper into the vagina.

How Does a Vagina Get Wet?

Instead, when aroused, the blood vessels of the vagina become engorged. These press against the mucosa tissue, which then force these natural fluids out the walls of the vagina. This lubrication is typically a preparation for intercourse, as sex can be uncomfortable – and even painful – without it for a woman.

Why Wouldn’t a Woman Get Wet?

foreplay tipsThe most common reason for too little vaginal lubrication is simply not being sexually aroused enough. Foreplay is so critical for many women. This doesn’t always mean touching traditional sexual areas. Kissing, and the hormonal exchange that happens when this happens, is often a good method of sexual stimulation. Other reasons why a woman may have trouble getting aroused include:

  • Emotional issues –
    • Unhappiness in the relationship,
    • Stress,
    • Anxiety,
    • Depression
  • Hormonal deficiency
  • Infection
  • Cyst
  • Use of birth control pills that are high in progesterone

Vaginal lubrication often decreases as women age, due to the change in hormones. This is especially true after menopause, when the vaginal walls thin. After menopause, the vagina also often becomes slightly shorter and narrower and it can take longer for a post-menopausal woman to become aroused enough to produce adequate lubrication.

If not on estrogen replacement, artificial lubricants can be especially useful.

Swedish artist, Carolina Falkholt, is becoming increasingly well-known, now with her second ginormous penis mural.

giant pink penis new york cityHer first one, a big, pink creation. Was was commissioned by local street art organisation The New Allen. The giant penis was intended as a complement to a nearby super-sized mural of a vagina on Pike Street.

“I usually paint giant vaginas, pussies and cunts,” Falkholt told The Guardian. “And since I had just finished one on the side of a five-story building, I felt like a dick was needed.”  Falkholt says the space on Broome Street was a “perfect fit” for the penis painting. “To paraphrase Judith Bernstein, if a dick can go into a woman, it can go up on a wall,” she added.

However, a few days later, after complaints from locals, the pink masterpiece was painted over.

Now, it looks like Stockholm has it’s blue counterpart.

This time the five-storey-high turgid penis is bright blue and painted on the side of a building in Kungsholmen island, Stockholm, Sweden.

The translation of what Falkholt has entitled it is literally – “Fuck the World”.

What is Hard Flaccid?

Normally, when a man is in the flaccid state, his penile tissue is relaxed. It feels soft and spongy. With a hard flaccid penis, as the name implies, the penis is hard, but, unlike an erection is typically smaller than the normal flaccid state. Big Al, lead trainer of MaleEnhancementCoach.com describes it as:

(Hard flaccid is) as if the smooth muscle contracts (relaxes) so hard that it collapses in upon itself. Picture what happens to a soft sponge when you dry out all of the moisture out of it and compress it as tightly as possible. That’ll give you a picture of how that works.

In addition to this harder flaccid state, symptoms can include:

  • Mild turtling of the penis
  • Loss of morning erection
  • Difficulty achieving or maintaining erections
  • Reduced erection angle
  • Difficulty urinating which may or may not be painful and may include a weaker urine flow

What Causes Hard Flaccid?

Your hard flaccid condition could be caused by a variety of things. The most important thing to remember is that if the symptoms persist, it’s always smart to talk to a medical professional. Most commonly, a hard flaccid state is a negative physiologic indicator due to:

  • Traumatic injury
  • Nerve damage
  • Pelvic floor tightness, and/or
  • Overtraining.

Additionally, hard flaccid can be caused by a hormonal imbalance, specifically estrogen dominance.

How Do I Cure Hard Flaccid?

Long-time member,  aBone2pick, has some advice I just absolutely LOVE…

The very first thing I want to say is this: regardless of whether your potential hard flaccid disappears overnight or after a long period of time, it’s really not that terrible. I want you to change the way you think about hard flaccid from, “I just got cancer,” to “I have an annoying, perpetual runny nose.” Hard flaccid is extremely annoying, sometimes mildly painful, and a bit damaging to one’s self esteem, however it’s not going to ruin your sex life.

This is so true! In fact, becoming anxious about your hard flaccid (or perceived hard flaccid) state can actually make the condition worse. So, Step 1 – Relax!

Many times, with rest and recovery, hard flaccid conditions resolve themselves. The body heals and the hard flaccid condition stops. This not only includes stopping any penis exercises, but also masturbation and sexual intercourse.

Meditation and yoga have been known to help, as it relaxes the muscles. Swimming laps is an excellent exercise to not only promote blood flow around the entire body, including the penis, but also can be very relaxing and meditative.

If your hard flaccid is due to a hormonal imbalance, look first to your diet. If your diet is high in soy-based products – this includes soy-based protein drinks and bars – cut out all soy from your diet.  Soybeans have phytoestrogens. These mimic the body’s estrogen hormones. For guys, this can throw your testosterone out of balance, and lead to an estrogen dominance in males.

…but I want to focus on improving my erection quality first.  Are there any supplements I should look into for hardness?

Big Al:  Herbs like Maca and Yohimbe are good, but the latter is powerful and can have negative effects on those with high blood pressure.  L-Arginine is beneficent, and if you’re into intense resistance training and are supplementing for that, then L-Arginine/creating mixes will have a definite effect. Unless you really need the boost, I do recommend spending the first couple of weeks supplement free so as to establish a control period to evaluate from.

Q. I’ve been training on and off for a few months and now want to get more serious about my workouts and gains!…

…I was looking at your Basic Training routine but it looks pretty easy.  Is there another routine you suggest which will be more challenging?

Big Al:  If you’re able to perform over 100 reps of the jelq, then I recommend you get started on a more advanced routine- like the Jelq Free or the JP90.  Both of these don’t have the upper level volume limitations recommended in the Basic Training routine.

Q. The Stop and Starts looks like a good exercise…

…but I can only last 2-3 minutes before I pop off. Do I just stay with that exercise or is there something else I can do?

Big Al:  If you last less than 5 minutes with the standard version you can attempt the “Extreme” Stop and Starts.  This is where you perform up to 10 “stops” in order to get that very necessary temporal conditioning.  Once you can get to 10-15 minutes in this fashion, you can stay at that time but just begin cutting the stops down to 3, over time.

hanstwililght penis enlargement avatar kegelWe have a very special post today, from one of our amazing moderators, HansTwilight.  HansTwilight talks today about the dangers of excessive Kegeling.  Derived from his own personal (and painful) experience, he gives us unique insight into what can happen when you get too much of a good thing.

“Kegels, Kegels, and more Kegels!”

This appears to be the primary advice given by guides on the internet instructing men on improving their erections, stamina, and ejaculation force.  Although these claims are true, this advice is very vague and totally irresponsible.

As with all male enhancement exercises, whether it’s weightlifting, cardio, penis enlargement exercises, there is always a risk of injury associated with them, especially doing simple Kegels exercises.   This article hopes to point out the risks associated with the abuse of Kegel exercises and how to avoid falling victim to some of the horror stories men have posted after having abused such exercises.  I will also mention some of the treatment options for these conditions as well.  Note that I am not a doctor, and I always recommend seeing a licensed physician to get a proper assessment.

I will first begin by establishing the common conditions that appear from abusing the Kegel, they are as listed:

  • Pelvic Floor Dysfunction (PFD)
  • Chronic Prostatitis/Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CP/CPPS)
  • Levator Ani Syndrome
  • Hard Flaccid (HF)

Some of these are conditions you have probably never heard of, which is what makes things more complicated for men who see their doctors and are unsatisfied when the doctor sees no issues.  That is because most of these conditions are not acknowledged by all medical communities, especially if the patient is living in a 3rd world country.  It is my hope that these types of conditions will become more mainstream within the next decade or so.

“So Hans, what are these conditions and how do they occur?”

The first three conditions on the list are all caused by doing too many Kegel exercises.  The last one (hard flaccid) is one that has many different possible causes, from stimulant use to severe anxiety, but they all involve the pelvic region.

The ideology behind the pelvic floor muscles is although they are skeletal muscles, they are still different because they never stop working. If they did, we would be incontinent.  Because of this, I hypothesize they are, for lack of a better word, naive; they can be trained very easily.  That being said, it’s paramount to follow a Kegel routine that also involves reverse Kegels.  This allows the pelvic floor to maintain balance.

When the individual does too many Kegels, the pelvic floor can become overactive, tensing when it is not supposed to.  A lot of this tension occurs in response to stress, and the medical community is becoming more aware now that some men (and women) are holding their stress in the pelvic floor which is a huge factor in many PFD cases.

“Hans, what is your definition of hard flaccid?”

Good question. In my opinion, hard flaccid is a vague term describing a bodily function that is perfectly normal.  Exercising and weight lifting are common causes of hard flaccid.  The problem is when the hard flaccid doesn’t go away, “Chronic Hard Flaccid” (a term I coined) is where the penis becomes hyper contracted, making erections impossible.  A lot of people have their own way of defining it, but I think that the underlined sentence best describes what it is.  In my opinion, the most common cause of hard flaccid is repressed anxiety.

“So then how do I avoid these conditions from happening to me?”

The important thing to keep in mind when doing Kegels is that less is more.  You don’t need to do tons and tons of reps in order to strengthen the muscle, you need to focus on a high intensity/low volume routine.  I have instructions on an example routine in my protocol, pink section.

Another important thing to remember is that you should never Kegel while you are stretching your penis. This can cause the BC muscle to pull, and it can lead to full blown PFD and hard flaccid, at least it did for me. (Read: Tug of War Theory)

“What should I do if I have any of these conditions?”

First things first, relax.  Worrying will only worsen the condition, and anxiety will only make you more tense.  You need to see a doctor to rule out any other anomalies that might be present.  Next, you should speak with your doctor on pelvic floor physiotherapy.  The can be hard to find if you are not living in the US or UK, but there are websites you can use to find them.  Finally, seeing a mental health professional is also important.

The Bottom Line

Male enhancement is becoming more popular nowadays, but the risk is still present, and the potential for injuries is no different.  One must do their research and approach these exercises with caution in order to see success.  I strongly advise using the type of Kegel routine mentioned in my protocol and always implementing reverse Kegels, it could save you from having to deal with the same agonizing pain I dealt with.  It’s unfortunate that very few people are aware of these risks, but as the male enchantment field grows, the awareness of injury must as well.  I ask that these words be spread to everyone in this community, so we can ensure that men trying to improve their sexual health will be able to do so as safely as possible.

Anyway, when answering one of Ujjayi’s Questions of the Day about laughter, I immediately recalled the scene explaining what the Giggle Loop is – the horrible inability to not stop yourself from laughing, in a totally inappropriate setting. While trying to find this clip, to share, online I came across this one… The Terror of the Melty Man

“You’re in bed and suddenly you find yourself thinking… maybe she’s really bored.”

“Or maybe you’re licking her neck too much. Are you overwetting her neck?”

“Are you spending an equal amount of time on each breast?”

Oh, yes, this is when the Melty Man appears!

Although this clip is hilarious, it actually puts a point on a very real problem – the fact that sometimes erectile dysfunction isn’t physical at all — it’s all in your head!

Instead of worrying about these silly things, talk to your partner. More importantly, LISTEN to your partner – in and out of the bedroom.

Most importantly – don’t stress yourself out. Get out of your own head (which is where the Melty Man lives). Focus on your partner. The feel of their skin. The sound of their breathing. The smell of their body. Focus on giving them pleasure, don’t even think about your own erection, and you’ll find it much easier to keep the Melty Man at bay.

Self-Diagnosing: Listening to Others

self diagnose listen to othersThe Internet is a wonderful tool, when used properly. This is more true for medical quandaries than almost any other aspect, in my opinion. You get a weird rash – you can Google it, and even see photos of potentially similar rashes, to help you decide whether or not a visit to the doctor’s office is imminent or if you can try a home remedy or something over-the-counter first.

This is both pretty freaking cool and can be incredibly challenging.

There are numerous challenges, and even risks, to using the Internet to self-diagnose a medical concern. Today, we’re going to talk about the challenge of listening to others.

Our site, and our forums, never are intended as medical advice. I think this is also true for 99% off websites out there.  Obviously, only a trained medical professional who has physically examined you can make a final determination on your condition and a proper course of treatment.

However, as I mentioned in the intro, the Internet can help you determine the severity of your possible condition. Is it likely something that you can self-treat? Is it likely something that is temporary? Or is it something you need to get to the ER right now?

Yet, despite this plethora of information, and personal accounts of similar situations and what the general public has been through when they had similar situations and symptoms, it never fails to surprise me that so many people refuse to listen to what others are saying.

This is true not only for physical concerns, but for non-physical concerns where advice is requested – including relationship concerns.

Yes, it’s natural to have a situation present itself and for a person to have a preconceived notion about what the issue is and what the best course of action is. However, if you then present this situation to a group of your peers and ask for advice —  LISTEN.

Listen to what others say, even if their advice is diametrically-opposed to what your initial thoughts were. Listen even if what they’re saying isn’t what you want to hear.

Now, I’m not saying you need to accept what others give as advice as the truth of your situation. In fact, I STRONGLY suggest you take everything you read on the Internet with a heaping tablespoon of salt. And, in the end, you have to make your decision based on what YOU feel is best – because even though you’ve given details to the situation, you likely have more information than what you shared.

However, consider what others are saying and the advice they are giving. Especially if more than one person is expressing the same thought. Even if these people aren’t 100% right, they can help open your mind to new possibilities about what the correct action is for you and your unique situation.

Otherwise – what was the point of asking for advice? If you simply wanted people to reaffirm your preconceived notion – well, that might not always happen. And, the reason for that is twofold:

  1. You didn’t give all of the pertinent details that would change the general populace’s opinion on the best course of action, or
  2. You’re wrong in your preconceived notion.

So, before you ask for advice, whether that be here on the PEGym forums, or even in person to family and friends, ask yourself —

  • Am I only wanting to hear opinions that agree with what I already think?
  • Will I ignore advice that is contrary to my preconceived notion?
  • Have I left out details to the situation that possibly have had an effect on the situation (such as events leading up to symptoms of a physical problem or events that have impacted an emotional relationship)?

If you’ve answered YES to any of these questions, chances are you’re not in a position to really accept advice from others.

Again – as always – in instances of physical problems – talk to a medical professional. It’s always better to err on the side of caution and have an issue be nothing serious than have it be serious and become worse because you didn’t receive timely care.
